Autumn Leaves Cake

To celebrate the fact that Fall (winter) has finally arrived in Utah, I made this cake over the long weekend. I wanted something that reminded me of Fall without being too much on the Halloween side of Fall. It is a fudge chocolate cake, vanilla filled, and frosted in chocolate.
This was my first time working with the mini-pumpkins, and for the trials I did, I think they came out pretty well, and bring across the Fall theme very well.

The leaves were made out of royal icing, and I tried to get some really great colors that remind me of Fall and the leaves falling from the trees.

The sides of the cake were frosted in a basket weave style. It really made it look like a basket full of pumpkins.
